The core curriculum used in Saint John Paul II Montessori Preschool is the Montessori curriculum. This curriculum covers and exceeds the entire British Early Years Foundation Stages (EYFS) curriculum and yet includes the core Nigerian Early Childhood curriculum. Our curriculum incudes: Practical Life and Sensorial Exercises, Montessori Mathematics/Numeracy skills, Language/literacy Skills using the phonic method, Cultural Studies/Knowledge of the world. This is supported by other enrichment activities to provide your child with a robust learning experience and to meet the Early Years Learning Goals (ELG)
Research has shown that the best predictor of future success is a positive sense of self-esteem. The Montessori Method of education, based on spontaneous self-directed, non-competitive activities, helps children develop strong independence, self-esteem, self-discipline and the confidence to face challenges and changes with optimism.
The first six years of a child’s life are the most formative years. It is a time when children effortlessly absorb concepts and habits. It is also the period when roots for love of learning are established. Consequently, Saint John Paul II Montessori School provides a unique cycle of learning designed to take advantage of the child’s sensitive years of development when they can absorb information from an enriched environment.
